ABOUT
Kate Beck was born in Bath, Maine in 1956.
Her physical, structured works are conceptualized through formal criteria of organized mark, scale and color, engaging historic techniques of process and abstraction recast within the contemporary experience.
Embodying concepts of time, memory, presence, and place, her intention holds a deep integration with human, wildlife, and nature ecologies.

Beck studied drawing, painting, and art history at the University of Maine and Maine College of Art, and was a scholarship recipient in drawing, sculpture, and poetry from Bennington College. She holds an MFAIA from Goddard College, and has participated in post-doc seminars with Columbia University and Harvard University Mahindra Humanities Center. She has exhibited, lectured, and collaborated with venues, artists, curators, and others within the United States, France, Portugal, The Netherlands, UK, and Italy for over thirty years.
A Fellow of the BAU Institute, New York and Italy, her works are commissioned and collected publicly and privately, including the Raum Schroth Collection, Stiftung Konzeptuelle, Soest, Germany; Ogunquit Museum of American Art, and Santa Fe Museum of Contemporary Art among others.
Kate Beck is an American painter and writer.
